As a result of there being less national guidance for lower KS2, in many schools, teachers in Year 3/4 are less clear about what expectations look like. In response to requests, this training has been extended to provide the opportunity to explore the demands of the curriculum in more depth.

This network is comprised of six half-day sessions, focusing in depth on subject knowledge, planning and assessment. Within each session, delegates will consider the key skills that children need; what the terminology means; how it looks in practice; how to secure age-related expectations and strategies to support and develop progress for all groups of children. There will be gap tasks for delegates to complete in school and opportunities to share and discuss practice with colleagues.

This is a comprehensive course that provides delegates with invaluable support in meeting the demands of the lower KS2 curriculum.

Aims:

To be clear about the expectations within Y3/4

To have increased subject knowledge and use this to make appropriately challenging provision for pupils

To be able to plan appropriate units of work with an effective teaching sequence

To develop a range of strategies to support teaching and learning across Y3/4

To understand the assessment criteria and be able to form accurate judgments

Staff are expected to attend all dates in order to complete gap tasks

This training is suitable for Teachers / TAs/ English Subject Leaders
