After having focused on writing more heavily in recent years, many schools have requested training to support the development of reading. Reading was also highlighted as a major issue in this year's sharing of data and the Forest Data report.

Over four half day sessions, this network will consider how to develop children's engagement and motivation through whole school initiatives for raising the profile of reading; guided reading and use of the thinking hat approach; developing high quality book talk; the use of quality texts; reading assessment and strategies to support less able readers. There will be gap tasks for delegates to complete in school and opportunities to share and discuss practice with colleagues.

To consider how effective reading provision is currently and areas for development.

To identify and implement strategies to support children's engagement and motivation in reading and their comprehension.

Staff are expected to attend all sessions in order to complete gap tasks

This training is suitable for Teachers / TAs /English Subject Leaders
