Reading: Balancing Achievement with Encouraging Reading for Pleasure
Cinderford
This session will begin with looking at the moral duty we have as teachers to get reading teaching right and how what we do can have a profound impact on children lives, long into adulthood.
We will discuss strategies for child engagement and how to inspire reading for pleasure. Looking at the National Curriculum, we will unpick its key requirements and measure this against current classroom practice.
This session also covers how the learning environment can support the teaching of reading effectively and how to optimise opportunity for reading immersion throughout the school day.
