Science Strategy Leaders Group
Cinderford
This series of Subject Leader Strategy Meetings will help to develop leadership skills such as monitoring, supporting colleagues and raising the profile of science, with the additional focus on building children’s Science Capital. Based on research from UCL and King’s College London, the Science Capital Teaching Approach focuses on developing young people’s Science Capital (their knowledge, attitudes and experiences of science) by personalising learning, recognising and valuing children’s experiences and knowledge and by developing dimensions of Science Capital, such as scientific literacy, the transferability of science and engaging with science through a range of media.
Throughout the year, we will share outcomes from school science events to celebrate science and support raising its profile in schools. Each session will include an update on key policy and/ or resource updates to support subject leaders and their colleagues in school.
