This session will take you on a journey to explore thinking, reasoning and communicating in mathematics. You will have the opportunity to explore effective questioning and consider how everyday activities can be adapted to promote higher order thinking skills.
Aspects covered include:
- the development of questioning to promote higher order thinking.
- the use of misconceptions/misunderstandings to deepen mathematical thinking and reasoning.
- questions stems to promote thinking and support mathematical communication.
- an exploration of different types of mathematical problems and the range of strategies used to solve problems including bar modelling.
