Early Careers: Maths 4 – Reasoning, Variation and Intelligent Practice

This session focuses on the importance of variation both conceptual and procedural and the role these play in the understanding and application of mathematical concepts. Thinking and reasoning will be revisited from the last session.
Aspects covered include:
- Practical examples of conceptual variation with a focus on fractions.
- Exploring and creating examples of procedural variation and considering its role in intelligent practice.
- Progression in reasoning
- Low Threshold High Ceiling (LTHC) tasks and other ‘Rich’ activities that enable inclusion and challenge for all in mathematics
